As we roll into this new year at school and beyond, the Latin phrase "Ne Timeas" has stayed with me lately and has been a constant beautiful, good, and true reminder. This translates into "Do Not Be Afraid" and is linked to what the angel Gabriel proclaimed to Mary (Luke 1:26-38). This message also links throughout the bible with its most common phrases, reminding us to recognise fear and then choose love.
With so much news of fighting and natural disasters erupting worldwide, it has been a timely reminder not to get sucked into the fear vortex of sorts. Choosing love also goes hand-in-hand with my new beginning and the new academic year. Furthermore, considering all the support I have received, I can creatively rest assured goodness and love are abundant in our world. Thank you to everyone who reached out; I am grateful; it has been a peaceful transition.
During this time, I have also found inspiration in the Jewish proverb: “Before every person, there marches an angel proclaiming, ‘Behold, the image of God.’” This wisdom reminds me that we are all on earthly journeys full of surprises, held by love, and marked by the reflection of the sacred in us all. Indeed, the image of God is inherent in every person. Perhaps with faith, we can grow through and be connected by the tree of life, hearing the angel's call, rooted in the movement of the spirit as the divine strength that continues to grow and sustain us.
Ne Timeas, it seems, is an invitation to walk forward in faith. Praying for peace, especially in the middle-east, embracing the unknown and honouring sacred diversity with kindness, creativity, and courage...
Happy new year!
Much love and prayer
